Starting September 2025, Latvia will
implement tighter entry rules for third-country nationals without a
Latvian-issued visa or residence permit. To enhance national security, such
travellers must submit detailed personal and family information, including
travel purpose, duration, and contacts, at least 48 hours before arrival. The
move mainly targets citizens of Russia and Belarus, amid concerns over
insufficient security checks by some EU countries. Latvia's parliament fully
supports the changes.
