As of March 19, 2024, Canada has introduced new eligibility criteria for the Spousal Open Work Permit (SOWP). Spouses or partners of international students enrolled in professional degree programs can now apply for an open work permit, allowing them to work for any employer without a job offer. Previous rules apply to earlier applications.
