Canada to Stop Giving Extra Points for LMIA Job Offers in Express Entry
Canada will soon stop adding extra points in the
Express Entry system for job offers supported by a Labour Market Impact
Assessment (LMIA). Immigration Minister Marc Miller announced this on December
17.
Right now, candidates with LMIA-based job offers
can get 50 or 200 extra points in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). These
points often help candidates get invited to apply for permanent residency.
The exact date of this change is not yet known.
This decision may affect candidates who rely on these extra points to improve
their CRS scores.
