From January 2025, people from outside Europe will need an
Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) to visit the UK. Applications are now
open for non-Europeans. Starting March 2025, Europeans can also apply. An ETA
costs £10, lasts two years or until your passport expires, and allows stays of
up to six months. It is not a visa but digital permission to travel. The UK
Government says this new system will improve security and make travel easier.
Visitors from countries like the USA, Canada, and Australia contributed £8.8
billion to the UK in 2023. Applications can be made through the UK ETA app or
website.
