As of November 8, 2024, Canada has changed its visitor
visa guidelines, affecting many international travelers. The new rules give
immigration officers more flexibility in deciding the type and length of visas,
either single-entry or multiple-entry, based on each applicant’s situation.
Previously, multiple-entry visas were commonly issued, but officers will now
consider factors like purpose of visit, financial stability, health, and ties
to home country. A multiple-entry visa can still last up to 10 years, but
shorter periods may now be issued depending on individual cases. These changes
may mean more specific assessments for each applicant.
