Canada Ends Student Direct Stream, and Nigeria student express ,Impacting Study Permit Processing for International Students
BREAKING: As of November 8, 2024, Immigration, Refugees and
Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has stopped the Student Direct Stream (SDS) and
Nigeria Student Express (NSE) programs. These programs helped students from
countries like India, China, and Nigeria get study permits faster. Now, all
students must use the standard application, which usually takes longer.
Previously, SDS required language test results and a $20,635 CAD investment
(GIC). With SDS closed, students may experience delays; for example, it now
takes about eight weeks for applications from India.
