Temporary residents who have lived in Canada for
at least 18 months are eligible for the Canada Child Benefit (CCB). They must
report last year’s income and file their taxes on time. Payments are made
monthly, with the next one on October 18, 2024. Families with children under 6
can get up to $7,787 per year, thanks to an increase in July 2024. Newborns are
often automatically registered for CCB when their birth is recorded. For other
children, applications can be submitted online with proof of residency and
income details.
