increase in minimum wages in Ontario and some 3 more provinces in Canada
Ontario will raise its minimum wage from $16.55
to $17.20 per hour, Manitoba from $15.30 to $15.80, Prince Edward Island from
$15.40 to $16.00, and Saskatchewan from $14.00 to $15.00. These changes are
part of annual adjustments to reflect living costs. Special categories in
Ontario, such as students and homeworkers, will also see wage increases.
British Columbia and Quebec raised their wages earlier this year. Labour
activists continue to push for a $20 per hour minimum wage in Ontario to better
match living costs.
